Symptoms of Leukaemia
A number of factors like exposure to radiation and benzene can cause leukaemia. Leukaemia is also genetic. If you happen to be undergoing chemotherapy for some other sort of cancer, there is a chance that you might develop leukaemia after your cancer has been cured or has gone into regression That is because the drugs which are given during chemotherapy are capable of altering the physiology to aspects of a cell as well as its functions. That is the reason why leukaemia is one of the side effects of chemotherapy.
But how do you know that you are suffering from leukaemia. Many times the symptoms of the disease are confused with that of influenza. You are going to suffer from fever, headaches, general fatigue, some problems because the spleen might have enlarged, anaemia, because the destruction of the red blood cells means the blood count is low, chills, lack of appetite, sweating in the night etc.
These are the first symptoms that something is wrong with the body and an infection is growing. Because the white blood corpuscles are infected, the immunity system of the body also goes out of the window and that is why the body is more vulnerable to an infection within itself. That is why one has to look for these symptoms and not shrug them off as a viral infection. The moment the doctor diagnoses the disease, it is necessary that chemotherapy and treatment be started immediately.
