Classicication Of Leukaemia
The moment you hear that anybody is suffering from leukaemia, your first instinctive response is " oh no, how is he going to survive this dreadful cancer?" because everybody knows that leukaemia is a disease in which the bone marrow of the body stops producing red blood cells and white blood cells. Any abnormal growth in a cell that extends to its neighbouring cells to make them all grow abnormally is known as a cancer. These cells stop responding to the normal mechanisms and functions, which should control their growth.
They start expanding without any constraints upon their growth and reproduction. The multiplication goes out of control and that is when the cancer starts spreading to other parts of the body. These cancer cells have a tendency to live much longer than a normal cell and that is why they spend all their time spreading all over the other normal healthy cells and destroying them.
Many patients suffers from leukaemia, which means white blood in Greek, these cells spill out from the bone marrow and get into the patient's bloodstream. And from there, they go to the different parts of the body. That is why it is very necessary to know about the different types of leukaemia. There are four major types of leukaemia.
ALL is known as acute lymphocytic leukaemia or acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. AML stands for acute myeloid leukaemia. CLL is known as chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and chronic myeloid leukaemia is known as CML. These different types of leukaemia are treated differently because they have different symptoms.
